Would you please inform me of the main differences between the following 2 binoculars?
•Nikon Action Extreme 12x50 ATB Binocular for $159.99
•Nikon Action 12x50 Binocular for $99.99
My wife and I are headed to Yellowstone for our first time. I also am really looking forward to game watching and star-gazing in the evening. I would appreciate if you would let me know the differences and if you feel the Extreme model warrants the extra $60.00.
Thank you in advance for your time and your feedback.
Thanks for your interest in Eagle Optics. The main difference is that the Action Extreme is waterproof and fogproof and has twist up and down eyecups.
The Action is not waterproof and you roll the eyecups up and down to adjust them with or without eyeglasses or sunglasses.
The optics on the Action Extreme are a bit sharper to the edge of the image as well. Other than that, they are quite similar.
If you are not planning to tripod mount this binocular, I might suggest something in a lower magnification, like a 10x50 or 8x40.
For most people, anything over 10 x magnification will probably be hard to hold steady.
