Tripod Question

Eagle Optics,

I have an old, probably mid to late 80’s, Bogen tripod model 3021. I would like to buy a video head for this tripod. Two questions:

1. How do I get the old head off? There’s a lever with a spring that might be it, but is frozen up due to age. Or do you unscrew something?

2. Would the Manfrotto head currently on sale for $96 fit on this tripod?

Thank you,
Ginny

Ginny,

Thanks for your interest in Eagle Optics.

I’m not sure which head you have (3021 is the leg model), but…

You should be able to loosen and pull up the center column of your tripod.

On the underside of the center column, you should see 3 set screws. Once those are loosened, the head should thread off counterclockwise.

Then you can thread a new head on, set those set screws down, and you’re good to go.

I assume you’re asking about the 128 RC head?

That will be a great fit with the 3021.

Thanks,
Eagle Optics
