Bushnell digiscoping with a DSLR camera

Dear Eagle Optics,

I have two questions.

1. Does the Vortex Universal 43-65mm Large Digital Camera Adapter work on the Bushnell 20-60x80mm Legend HD spotting scope?

2. Is the Vortex Universal 43-65mm Large Digital Camera Adapter for use with Nikon D5000 DSLR Cameras?

Thank you,
Alex

Dear Alex,

Thanks for your interest in Eagle Optics.
Yes, the Vortex Universal 43-65mm Large Digital Camera Adapter will fit the Bushnell, however this particular adapter is not suited for a DSLR camera. This adapter is made to accept a small-bodied point and shoot with a below 4x optical zoom only.

In order to use any DSLR for digiscoping, the manufacturer of the spotting scope will also have to manufacture a special adapter that can accept a DSLR.
You would need a DSLR body and a fixed 50mm lens. Currently, the only manufacturers that make adapters to accept DSLR with 50mm lenses are Swarovski, Kowa, and Vortex.

The one other option that Bushnell offers is the Bushnell Elite 80mm Spotting Scope Camera Adapter which is a specialized photo-adapter made only for use with the Bushnell Elite scope. For this setup to work you will need a T-ring for your DSLR camera and will have to remove the lens.

Thanks,
Eagle Optics
