Vortex Recon Scope vs. Nikon Fieldscope

Dear Eagle Optics,
How does the optics quality of the Vortex 15X50 Recon Mountain Scope compared to the Nikon 13-30X50 ED Fieldscope?

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your interest in Eagle Optics.

The optics of the Vortex Recon, and the Nikon 50ED Fieldscope, are both very nice.  However, the Nikon Fieldscope is better in almost every quality to some degree.  It is brighter, has a sharper center-point resolution, and has less chromatic aberration than the Recon.

The Recon does have a wider field of view though, and is easier to carry with you, as it has a belt clip and is a bit more ruggedly constructed.

I did test both of these scopes mounted on a tripod and handheld.  In both instances I found it easier to focus with the Nikon Fieldscope, and was able to get an overall clearer view of my target.

I hope that is helpful, and please let me know if you have any other questions.
