Point & Shoot or DSLR for Digiscoping?

Hello Eagle Optics,
We are contemplating purchasing the  Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 Angled Spotting Scope. We are interested in also trying digiscoping. We presently have a Rebel XSI and are considering upgrading to the 18 megapixel model.  I have been reading so much on digiscoping and was wondering if you feel the Canon would be a good fit or are the point and shoot better cameras for digiscoping?  I have a Nikon 4300 only 4 megapixel older one.

Thank you for your advice.

Patricia P.

Thanks for your interest in Eagle Optics.
Either the Rebel or a point and shoot like the 4300 (with a below 4x optical zoom) will work well.

For the DSLR, you'll need a fixed 50mm lens (the zooms won't work).
For the point and shoot, you will need this PS100 platform (if your 4300 doesn't already have a filter thread adapter).

Then you should be in business.
If you have further questions, feel free to give any of our staff a call.
