Is the Vortex Viper scope noticably better in HD?

Hi,
Question: Is the Vortex Viper 15-45x65 Angled Spotting Scope at $499.99 worth the extra $150 for the HD version?

Also I am assuming that the
Manfrotto 128RC/190XB Tripod Package would fit this scope nicely?

Thanks for your time!

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your inquiry.  I can objectively tell you that there is an observable difference between the HD and standard glass 65mm Viper and that the HD is noticeably better.  Whether or not it’s worth it becomes more of a subjective issue.  In my opinion, it is worth it.  There aren’t too many instances where you can get that noticeable of an improvement in performance for the $150 difference.
The 190XB/128RC tripod kit works excellently with this scope.  The only issue would be if it is tall enough or not for you.  If you are 6’ or under, it would be a great choice.  If you are taller, then you might want to consider the larger 055XB leg set in conjunction with the 128RC head: http://www.eagleoptics.com/tripod-legs/bogen-manfrotto/bogen-manfrotto-055-xb-tripod-legs
