What is ED Glass?

Dear Eagle Optics,
What does ED glass mean?

Colin M.
Columbia, MO

Dear Colin,
Thanks for your inquiry.

Standard grades of optical glass offer good image quality in ideal lighting conditions. For the best performance in low light situations, it is necessary to consider high grades of glass.
High-grade glass types, such as ED, FL, and HD, offer noticeably enhanced resolution and color fidelity. In addition, it controls chromatic aberration in the image.
  • ED: Extra-low dispersion glass
  • FL: Fluoride glass
  • HD: High-definition glass
The increased image quality from high-grade glass is especially obvious when viewing in low light.

Which Swarovski camera adapter will work with my Leica camera?

I have a Leica D Lux 4 camera and I am wondering if it will attach to the Swarovski TLS - APO Digital Camera Adapter directly?

John D.

Hi John,

Because the D-Lux 4 doesn't have a removable lens, the Swarovski TLS-APO adapter for ATX Scopes will NOT work with it.  However, Swarovski makes another adapter for the ATX scopes, the DCBII, which is designed for use with point-and-shoot type cameras such as the D-Lux 4.

This DCB II adapter will be your best option for the D-Lux 4.  If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to email or call.

Best regards,
