I am looking for binoculars for a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. She has developed a fondness for bird watching. I do not have a lot of money and I'm looking at the Eagle Optics Kingbird 8.5 x 32, sale price $99.00. The price is right for me and, I hope the weight will work for my sister-in-law as she is not strong or, very steady on her feet. Please let me know if I am on the right path. Your input will be appreciated.
Thanks for your inquiry. The Eagle Optics Kingbird would be a great choice. If you are worried about your sister-in-law's steadiness, then I might suggest that you get her the 6.5 x 32 Kingbird.
One other choice to consider is the Atlas Optics Radian 8x42, also at $99. An advantage with this binocular is that it has a much better close focus of 7', compared to 14' for the Kingbird. A good close focus is beneficial not just for watching birds outside her window, but also when viewing butterflies, for example.
The Radian is more streamlined than the Kingbird, but it does weigh about 5 ounces more. It is a great price for its quality and has been really popular lately.
I think either binocular would be a great choice, so hopefully this helped you decide! Please let us know if you have any other questions or want to make an order over the phone.
