Would like to digiscope with my Vortex Diamondback Scope

I have a wonderful spotting scope from you that I use for bird watching--a VortexDiamondback 20-60x80 Angled Spotting Scope. Is there a mount I could purchase that will enable me to take digital pix with this scope? I know nothing about digiscoping...need advice, please. I'm told not all cameras can be used for this.

Hi Lois,

Thanks for your inquiry. You have a few options for digiscoping with the Diamondback, but the set-up you need depends on the type of camera you’ll be using.

If you have a Canon or Nikon DSLR camera, you can use the Novagrade adapter system, which screws right into your camera body and tightens onto the scope eyepiece.

If you have a smartphone (which will take good-quality photos), you can use that with a Phone Skope Adapter for the type of phone you have. You would buy the fitted case for your model of phone, and then an adapter ring for the Diamondback:  Phone Skope C-3 Vortex Diamondback Optical Adapter.

If you have a point and shoot digital camera, it needs to have 3-4x optical zoom to work well for digiscoping. The adapter for using a point and shoot camera with the Diamondback scope is the Vortex Universal 28-45mm Small Digital Camera Adapter.  It’s a little clunky, will work well for your use.

Hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further questions!

  1. Vortex has good reticle selection, the turrets are easy to read and use, and the scope has all the features precision rifle competitors look for.

  2. does the adapter work with the diamondback as well or just the viper? everything I seem to be seeing around shows it is only the viper.
