What birding trips does Eagle Optics sponsor?

Dear Eagle Optics,
Do you have an email list or newsletter that might outline birding trips you sponsor or have involvement in?

Have A Great Day......Lynnette C.

Hi Lynnette,
Thanks for your inquiry.  We just started offering a few (3-4) birding trips annually in partnership with some of the optics companies we work with.  An example of one that currently has availability is our September trip to Panama.

We generally announce these trips on our regular, weekly newsletter.  If you aren't already on our newsletter list, you can sign up here.

If you're a Facebook user, you can also get information about these trips, and lots more info, on the Eagle Optics Facebook page.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to email or call.

Best regards,

Need a replacement binocular case

Good morning,
I bought my wife some Pentax 8x43 DCF SP binoculars a while back from you. The case doesn't have a belt loop or anyway of attaching it to the strap. I see the on your site. Does this have a belt loop or some loop for a strap? Will this case fit the Pentax binos in question? Or do you have a better suggestion?

Thanks,
Bill J.

Hi Bill:
The case you mentioned should officially fit your binocular, but I think the 50mm version might be a bit better:
. These cases are made tight, so if you want some extra room, the 50 mm case would be the way to go.  These cases have built-in loops for a belt, and also attachment points for the strap.

Thanks for your inquiry!

Which fixed eyepiece for my Pentax PF-80ED Scope?

Dear Eagle Optics,
I have a Pentax PF-80ED scope I got from you guys a couple of years ago. I've been using a fixed eyepiece (Pentax XW 14mm), which gets me 36X. I'd like to add a higher-mag eyepiece for a better look at distant little things (peeps will be here soon!), but I'm torn between stopping at 50X (10mm) or going up to 72X (7mm). I'm worried about the brightness and FOV trade-offs, but a fixed eyepiece might make 72X achievable. Thoughts??

Hi Brian,
Thanks for your inquiry. You are correct about the trade-off in magnification for brightness. I would stick with the 50x--that should satisfy your need for greater magnification, but not tax the performance of your scope with its 80mm objective lens size. Remember, you have a month to try it out with our 30-day Return Policy!
Sncerely,

Would like to digiscope with my Kowa Prominar Scope

Hi,
What camera can I use with a Kowa Prominar 88 scope?
Also what do I need to connect it to the scope?
Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your inquiry. You have quite a few options for digiscoping with the Kowa scope.

1. You could use a DSLR camera with a fixed 50mm lens, with which you would need the Kowa DA10 Digital Camera Adapter. Additionally, you'll need a Kowa Digital Camera AdapterRing with the proper diameter in millimeters that matches the accessory threading of your camera. Together, your camera will be mounted directly onto the scope.  Our video, Digiscoping Fundamentals, will help you understand this set-up.

2. You could also use a point-and shoot-camera to digiscope, as long as the camera has an optical zoom of 3-4x. To attach that, you would need the DA10, as listed above, as well as a 37mm digital camera adapter ring. Additionally, you'll need the Vortex PS-100, an attachment that your camera will be mounted on: . This video, Digiscoping with a Point-and-Shoot Camera: Using the Vortex PS-100 Attachment illustrates this well.

3. If you wanted to use a Micro four-thirds camera, you could potentially use either of the above set-ups, depending on the size and threading of the camera.

4. For digiscoping with an iPhone 4, 4s or 5, Kowa has digiscoping bracket for a very simple and lightweght option, shown in this video:  Kowa iPhone Digiscoping Bracket.

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Eagle Optics

Does Eagle Optics offer layaway for the purchase of high end binoculars?  Also, do you buy used optics?  Thanks.
