Differences in Zeiss Conquest HD 32mm and 42 mm models?

A couple of weeks ago I got some binoculars from Eagle Optics. I liked them, but today a friend of mine was admiring them, so on impulse I just sold them to him. I assumed I would go up a step in quality and I returned to your website today. After looking at my options, I decided that I wanted to purchase Zeiss Conquest 8x32. I see that you are out of them now.

Actually, it seems like you B&H, Cabelas and so on are at exactly the same price for this model, with the possible exception of shipping prices. I had never really known about Eagle Optics before my most recent purchase, but I found out about you looking at binocular reviews. I liked buying from you, and I was pleased to see that you support the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. I am not in a big hurry, and I thought I would write and see if what my options are with the Zeiss from you. Will you be getting more in? Any advice about the difference between the 8x32 and the 8x42?

Dear Hal,

Thanks for your e-mail. The Zeiss Conquest HD would be a very nice upgrade from the Zeiss Terra HD you sold to your friend.  The Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32, a very nice mid-sized binocular, is out of stock at the moment, but we expect to have it back in stock in a couple weeks.

The main differences between the 8x32 and the 8x42 are size, weight, and brightness. While their performance will be quite comparable in sunny conditions, the 42 will be brighter in low-light conditions (dawn, dusk, and under dense tree canopy).  The trade-off is the extra weight and size of the larger binocular.

As always, there is no shipping charge for any purchase over $50 from our store.  In addition, you’ll have 30 days after receiving your product to try it out and evaluate it.

If you’d like, we’ll be happy to notify you when the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 Binocular is back in stock.  Just let is know, and we can drop you an e-mail then.

Thanks so much for the chance to do business with you again!

All the best,

Eagle Optics
