I just received the latest issue of Bird Watcher's Digest, and on the back cover is an ad for the new Ranger ED. I had the impression that Eagle Optics was going to move away from the Ranger and introduce an entirely new line sometime this summer.
Perhaps, you cannot disclose if that is the case, but I am waiting nonetheless for what the market may bring, since it’s time I updated my (still very good) Ranger SRT binocular.
Thanks for your inquiry.
The Ranger line of binoculars has been our most popular selling binocular line for quite some time (I think it's going on 15 years old), with a handful of solid upgrades along the way. The new Ranger ED is probably the most significant upgrade to this model line since 2000 when we introduced the Platinum Ranger.
The Ranger ED is our latest and greatest--and I'd encourage you to check out the Eagle Optics Ranger ED 10x42 Binocular if you're ready to upgrade from your SRT.
The chassis and many of the specifications on the Ranger ED are similar to those of the SRT, though the optical system and some of the mechanics have been upgraded substantially.
