EO Ranger and Vortex Diamondback: basic differences?

Hello EO,
Where are the Vortex Diamondback and Eagle Ranger 8x42 binoculars made?
What is the difference in these and the Eagle rangers? Would one be better than the other for hunting?

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your inquiry.

The difference between the Diamondback and the Ranger (which are both made in China) is glass quality. The Ranger will deliver more brightness and clarity, and is more lightweight. The new Ranger ED ($329.99)is a nice step up from the previous Ranger. ED (extra-low dispersion) glass is noticeably brighter and sharper to the edge than the non-ED Ranger.

For hunting I'd go with the best glass you can afford. The 8x42 is a good choice, whichever price level you choose to go with. In any case, you will have 30 days to try out the binocular after you receive shipment. We'll take it back and refund your money if you don't like it.

All the best,
Eagle Optics
